A Young Man Cycling in Tibet, Encountered a Disabled Stray Dog, Rescued Him and Took Him to See Mount Everest

Mr Wang, who was riding all the way to Tibet, noticed this poor stray dog dragging along on the side of a road on April 27, 2019. His hind legs couldn't move, and he didn't know who was wrapped in gauze. He stopped and brought biscuits and water for the dog. The dog ate voraciously. After removing the gauze, he discovered the leg was seriously injured, possibly crushed by a passing car, but the driver chose to leave. It usually walked on its front two legs, with its hind legs dragging on the ground, needing to rest after a few steps.

Since the long-distance travel is not convenient to carry the dog, Mr. Wang hesitated for a long time. But after checking the dog's injuries, Mr. Wang resolutely decided to take him with him. He tied the dog to his luggage with a rope, and it cooperated very well. They went to the hospital together, where the doctor diagnosed a nerve injury in the hind leg that couldn't recover. So there was no need for surgery, only medication. Mr. Wang was at a loss. Traveling with this disabled dog will be a big challenge.

The doctor cleaned and bandaged the dog's wound. Looking at the poor dog, how will he survive without someone to take care of him? Mr. Wang is up for the challenge. Travel with him! He gave the dog a new name: Bitter Gourd. Although his life is very bitter now, he hopes his future life will be as sweet as a melon.

Let's go, let's see the distant scenery. Give him a massage while he's resting, it's so enjoyable. Cook him a rich and nutritious meal every meal, hoping that he will be stronger. It takes a long time to help the dog rehab every time he takes a break.

He applied medicine for Bitter Gourd daily, helping it regain feeling in its hind legs. Despite having only two legs, Bitter Gourd remained lively and naughty.

They traveled together, enjoying the scenery along the way, and experiencing the challenges of the journey together. The scenery on the road is very desolate, but there is a dog to accompany.

After the wound healed, it was pleasant to see him regain some consciousness. The dog has gained weight significantly. In good spirits. Unexpectedly, he is also a master swimmer, swimming in the lake!

Afterward, they passed through the hot desert Gobi Desert and then took a ride to Urumqi to rest, enjoying Xinjiang cuisine and spending three pleasant days. Mr. Wang and the dog continued cycling to Tibet, awaiting a different landscape. As the altitude rose, the dog remained in good condition, and the road stretched further and further south.

Bitter Gourd has become a unique scenery on the road, encountering many kind-hearted people, blue sky, and white clouds. From grasslands to deserts, although it's tiring to bring the dog along, seeing Bitter Gourd so happy, Mr. Wang feels it's all worth it. They have experienced many adventures together, including swimming in a lake at an altitude of 4909 meters. The rest of the journey will be extremely difficult, so they decided to stay and rest for a day, take oxygen together, and then continue to set off.

They continued on to higher altitudes, ready to see the highest mountain in the world—Mount Everest. Though the road was very hard, they pressed on. The disabled dog, who once lay starving by the roadside, now stood proudly at the base camp of Mount Everest. They admired the sunrise over Mount Everest together, then proceeded to Lhasa smoothly.

After spending a few days in Lhasa, the journey came to an end, and it was time to go home. Mr. Wang carried Bitter Gourd aboard the train all the way. It wasn't easy, as Bitter Gourd had grown from an initial 12 kilograms to 34 kilograms. Image: They reached an altitude of 5013 meters. Bitter Gourd (a disabled stray dog) wore a happy smile. After Mr. Wang dressed Bitter Gourd with the scooter, he could run like a normal dog. Mr. Wang celebrated Bitter Gourd's birthday.

Mr. Wang built a house for the dog, and Bitter Gourd happily moved into his new home. He always takes his dog with him whenever he travels, bringing him to the beach where Bitter Gourd joyfully runs around. Although he only has two legs, under Mr. Wang's care, Bitter Gourd has become the happiest dog in the village.

From 2020 to 2023, Mr. Wang began making more scooters for other disabled stray dogs and earned income by selling dog food and other products on video platforms, gaining many followers who are concerned about stray dogs.
